Environmental Writing

Compelling writing is not one-size-fits-all. Habitat consulting writes clear, meaningful, rich content to grab the attention of your target audience, build understanding and bring them on board. We can start from scratch, edit a collaborative document with your team or breathe life into dull reports.

How can I help?

Hi! I’m Louise Duff – freelance consultant and founder of Habitat Consulting.

So you’ve set a goal, won a grant or made a commitment. Time’s getting away and your team’s overloaded. You need someone who can slot in and get things moving. Let me help you get your project on track.

I’m a natural resource manager with three decades of experience – where did the time go?! One thing has remained constant – caring deeply for nature.

I take a multi-disciplinary approach and work collaboratively with local government, global NGOs, grass-roots communities and land managers to build partnerships, promote stewardship and achieve on-ground outcomes.

A leader with buckets of drive who thrives in new environments, I’m a life-long learner who loves working with passionate people. These traits have given me a breadth of experience for an integrated approach across the environmental and social dimensions of NRM.

When it comes to project design, context is crucial. My experience covers biodiversity and threatened species, estuaries and wetlands, river catchments, farms, bushland reserves, urban parkland and ecotourism attractions.

If you have management targets in these settings, I can help you engage stakeholders, repair ecosystem services and build resilience at local and landscape scales.

One more thing: I love working with skilled colleagues and will bring in associates to build a team if a project calls for more hands on deck.

You can read about my professional experience, credentials and project portfolio on LinkedIn.

Think Globally, Act Locally

Habitat Consulting thinks globally and acts locally. My project portfolio has contributed to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 6 (ensure availability and sustainable management of water for all) and SDG 15 (protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems…reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss). I have more than a decade of experience working closely with the Ramsar Convention with a focus on CEPA (communication, capacity building, education, participation and awareness), and participated at Ramsar COP 11, 12 and 13.
